Emma Leslie came to Cambodia from Australia in 1997 to help develop a peace education curriculum for Cambodian high schools. Her work in this conflict-torn country led her to co-found the Action Asian Network, a network of peace builders in the region united to help support people living in conflict zones. Emma Leslie is also involved with other international peacebuilding organizations such as the UK-based Responding To Conflict and the South Africa-based Action Network. She was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 as part of the 1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize project.
